Europe is a continent that’s packed with a huge variety of countries and places to visit. Whether you’re looking for time on the beach doing nothing but a spot of tanning or you want to soak up every ounce of history and culture in city museums and galleries, Europe is a continent that can help you out in spades!Although it’s only a few hours by plane from one corner to the other, you can get a diverse mix of holidays in Europe, so here are my top five tips.
Beach Holidays in Southern Spain
If you’re in desperate need of some sun and time on the beach, you don’t get much better than heading to sunny Spain, where the sangria flows and the sun never stops shining. From the Costa Blanca right down to the Costa del Sol, Spain’s southern coast doesn’t disappoint and keeps the tourists coming back year after year.
Ski holidays to Andorra and the Pyrenees
Andorra is a country, often ignored because of its size, is a fantastic spot in Europe that deserves more praise. Located right on the border in between France and Spain, it is a landlocked country that straddles the Pyrenees mountain range, providing a more than ample offering of skiing and snowboarding. Whether you want to try skiing for the very first time with your family or you’re a seasoned pro looking for the next challenge, Andorra is an amazing place to do it. Ski holidays in Andorra are ones that you will never forget!
Cultural trips to Britain
Although Britain has somewhat modernised in recent years, you can’t beat spending some time soaking up the ancient cultures and traditions of our little old island. Soaked in pomp and ceremony, formality and decadence, the country estates, castles, abbeys and palaces of the English countryside are a once in a lifetime experience to explore. If you’re looking for something more loud and abrasive, London (and many other cities, of course)is jam-packed with museums and galleries, exhibition centres and theatres that can all offer you a wonderful insight into Britain and its culture, both past and present.
German Christmas markets
Over the last few years with low cost airlines and cheap hotels popping up here, there and everywhere, there has been a surge in the numbers of tourists arriving in Germany to explore their revered Christmas markets. Already a magical time of year, the Germans add roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and bespoke gifts and ornaments to make your time at the markets very special indeed. Each and every German city has one, with Munich, Berlin, Bonn and Hamburg being perhaps the most popular for international tourists. If you like Christmas time and stuffing your face with delicious foods, I really couldn’t advise you to head anywhere but Germany!
Religious trips to Italy and the Vatican
Regardless of your personal beliefs, any visit to Rome or the Vatican is going to be a wonderful experience. The Vatican, as one of the oldest and smallest countries on our planet, is worth a visit for the experience alone, but when you factor in the architecture, the rich and colourful history and all the religious aspects of the country that there is to see too, you have the makings of an unforgettable trip. Some people chose to spend only a day or so at the Vatican, but if you really want to get a close up and intimate view of this unusual yet beautiful part of the world and its surrounding provinces, you really can’t allow enough time to explore!
