When you think of living in Europe, the word ‘idyllic’ is not really one that immediately springs to mind. ‘Historical’, ‘Grandiose’ and ‘Stylish’ might be three words more aptly used to describe this beautiful continent. However, Europe does have its idyllic places too. In fact, Europe is perhaps the only continent you could call a city idyllic! You won’t find idyllic cities in Asia, that’s for sure! Please enjoy our Three Most Idyllic Places to Live in Europe article.
1. Gaiole in Chianti, Italy
With a population of just 2,591 people and located in western Italy, Gaiole in Chianti is one of the most picture perfect scenes in the world. Home to rolling vineyards as far as the eye can see, the average temperature is 68º F (20º C), making it prime wine-making territory. This sleepy yet picturesque municipality holds an annual wine festival every September. If you were plotting to buy a Seventeenth Century farmhouse high in the Chianti Hills, it will probably set you back in the region of 600,000 Euros! We can but dream!
2. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France
If it’s good enough for Vincent Van Gough, then it’s good enough for you. That’s right, the famous artist used to make Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in France his home. Idyllically positioned 20km south of Avignon, the region is best depicted by its vineyards and vast countryside, perfect for hiking. With summer temperatures at an average of 80 º F (20 º C) and winter temperatures no lower than 36º F (2º C), this is a nice climate to live among.
3. Copenhagen, Denmark
I told you that European cities can be idyllic, and none is more so than Copenhagen in Denmark. As the capital city of the Scandinavian country, the city is a business and science center while at the same time having lots of culture, cakes and coffee bars. Their extremely liberal attitude towards same sex marriage and the chic and beautiful architecture come together to create such an idyllic place to live in Europe.
