Living in Nottingham, England

Nottingham in England might be one of the nation’s smaller cities, however, it is one that has quite a lot of historical notoriety and a very interesting nightlife scene. I lived in Nottingham for over 10 years, so I can personally tell you this is one cool city to live in. Situated in the heart of the Midlands, slightly north of the dead center of England, Nottingham Castle overlooks the city dominating its skyline. Home to the famous football team, Nottingham Forest and two universities, the city really is a great place for young and old alike to reside.

    What about Nottingham?
Nottingham is the spiritual home of Robin Hood, and whilst the story is just a legend or myth, Sherwood Forest surrounds the outskirts of the city. The Robin Hood Museum is situated on a street aptly named, Maid Marion Way, and here you can hear all about the stories of the man famous for robbing from the rich and giving to the poor.
Did you know that Nottingham has a Female to Male ratio of 15-1? That is supposedly right, and sounds pretty good if you are a man, although it could turn into a bit of a catfight if you are a women.

    Sporting Prowess
Nottingham is very proud of its sporting prowess with two professional football teams, Notts County and Nottingham Forest; first class cricket and Ice Hockey teams, and is also home to the Super Middleweight World Boxing Champion, Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch.

    Nightlife and shopping
Because Nottingham is a relatively small city, everything is very centralized. Within a 30-minute walk, you can traverse the city center where you will find trendy shopping boutiques to rival any other city in England. The Lace Market area of the city is especially a very cool place for shopping and wine bars. Nottingham is home to a vast choice of live music venues and nightclubs scattered across this small city, and is also known as the home of UK hip-hop outside of London with an umbilical cord to New York.
All in all, Nottingham is a prosperous city located in the middle of England – a great place to live with friendly people, excellent shopping and lots of history.
